To provide a plasma display drive device with which the remedy for a luminescent spot can be employed without increasing the number of pieces of components and without decreasing maintenance period, and the decrease in the maintenance period can be suppressed even in driving a high definition panel, and to provide a plasma display panel device.
The driving device of the plasma display panel is equipped with a driving section for initializing a discharge cell in an initialization period. An initialization pulse has at least two slope periods (0-Va, Va-Vx, Vx-Vb). The driving section generates the slope voltage in at least the two slope periods in the initialization pulse by one slope generation circuit (50).
