PURPOSE: To heighten the brightness efficiency of a plasma display panel by construct a cell barrier so that the barrier itself works as a fluorescent surface.

CONSTITUTION: Cell barriers 14 constituting cells for display element in the form of matrix or lines are formed from a white light emitting paste of phosphor containing glass frit. On a glass base board to work as a front plate or back plate 11, these cell barriers 14 are formed using paste of phosphor by means of screen printing or an overlap printing performed in multiple runs. Otherwise, area other than the part where cell barriers 14 are constructed, is formed in a pattern of a specific film thickness with photo-resist, and after the recess in this area is filled with paste of phosphor, the photo-resist shall be removed. Thereby cell barriers 14 are built.
