Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a plasma spray device which has an improved efficiency, prolongs the service life of various parts and further improves the quality of a substrate coating.
CONSTITUTION: The plasma spray device is constituted to contain an indirect plasmatron to create an elongated plasma torch. This plasmatron comprises at least one, preferably three cathode members 1, an annular anode member 3 is located distantly from the cathode members and a plasma channel 4 extends from the cathode members to the anode member. The plasma channel is delimited by plural annular neutrode members 6 to 12 which are electrically insulated from each other. For axially feeding the powdery or gaseous material into the plasma torch, a supply tube 24 located close to the cathode member is provided at the beginning of the plasma channel. A region 33 of the plasma channel has a first zone with a reduced diameter located near the cathode member and a second zone with an increased diameter located near the anode member.
