Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent increase in volume of a plasma torch in a means moving an electric arc by forming a partition wall in a sealed cylindrical chamber, using an electric nonconductor in an electrode cooling fluid, and acting an electromagnetic coil as the cylindrical partition wall. CONSTITUTION: A plasma torch 1 contains a main body 2 consisting of two cylindrical supporting bodies 3, 4, and an upstream electrode 5, and a downstream electrode 6 and housed inside the supporting bodies 3, 4 respectively. The plasma touch 1 contains electrode cooling circuit 8.1-8.2, arranged within the supporting bodies 3, 4. A starting electrode 9 for starting electric arc between the electrodes 5, 6 is formed, and an electromagnetic coil 15 for moving catching feet of the electric arc produced is integrated with the cooling circuit 8.1. A sealed cylindrical chamber 16 has a partition wall, an electrode cooling fluid is an electrical nonconductor, and the electromagnetic coil 15 acts as a cylindrical partition wall. The electromagnetic coil 15 is cooled effectively with the cooling fluid.
