Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent abnormal discharge of a plasma torch by structuring with a non-isolated body the part of a plasma torch that comes into contact with a work and providing a high frequency bypass means between the electric potential of the torch nozzle and that of the work.
SOLUTION: With a bypass filter 12 provided as a high frequency bypass between the equipotential part of a torch nozzle 2 and that of a work 8, an electric charge is bypassed to the work 8 side, a charge which overflowed into the torch nozzle during the generation of a high frequency current at the start of the high frequency power source. Consequently, an abnormal discharge can be prevented whose generation is due to a high frequency current, even if an operation such as welding and cutting is performed with the work 8 in contact with a part of the member of a metallic material at the tip end of the plasma torch. The life of the metallic member that comes into contact with the work 8 may be greatly prolonged if the member such as a highly heat-conductive copper is used while being cooled by water. An effect to prevent abnormal discharge may be improved by providing the bypass filter 12 inside the plasma torch or in proximity to it.
