To make it possible to judge whether or not electrostatic charge amount required for separation of respective plastics is imparted thereto in a triboelectrification device in a case where plastics of various resin types are mixed.
This plastic sorting device is provided with an electrostatic electrometer 18 for detecting potential of electrification of plastic pieces 1 which are charged by friction due to stirring in a chamber 3a for friction and a control device 21 for controlling the drive of an opening/closing driving device 20 in accordance with the result of detection from the ?electrostatic electrometer 18. As a result, the use of the device makes it possible to grasp the potential of electrification of the plastic pieces 1 by means of the electrostatic electrometer 18 even at the time of generating triboelectricity in the case of separating many kinds of plastic pieces 1, and reliably separate the plastic pieces 1 by driving the opening/closing driving device 20 by the control device 21, automatically opening a cover part 19 and dropping the plastic pieces 1 into an electrostatic separation part in a case where the electrostatic charge amount required for the electrostatic separation is imparted to the plastic pieces 1 even in a small size of chamber 3a for friction.
