To provide a method for treating plastics by which there can be obtained a solid fuel and a reducing agent for ores that have a reduced amount of chlorine and excellent crushability, and also a solid fuel and a reducing agent for ores, both prepared by the treating method, and a method for blowing a plastic-treated matter into a vertical furnace.
The plastic-treating method comprises dechlorinating a chlorine- containing plastic by heating, adding one or more members selected from iron, iron oxide and iron hydroxide to the plastic, followed by thermal treatment, cooling and solidification. Moreover, a solid fuel that is made of a plastic-treated matter, and a reducing agent for ores are obtained by the method. In addition, there is also provided a method for blowing a plastic-treated matter into a vertical furnace wherein the plastic-treated matter obtained by the plastic- treating method is blown into a race way of a vertical furnace of making pig iron.
