To provide a plastic working apparatus which has as simple constitution as possible and nonetheless surely plastically works a flat-plate base stock into a shape having a desired thick portion other than a boss part.
The plastic working apparatus includes: a holding mechanism 4 for holding the flat-plate base stock W between the holding mechanism and a mandrel 3 provided at the top of a spindle 2; and a roller moving mechanism 6 which moves a roller 5 for reducing the thickness of the flat-plate base stock W by pressurizing the surface of the base stock W, in a direction in which the roller 5 comes close to and separates from the axial center A of the rotation of the spindle. A working plane 11 of the roller 5 which is a straight line in the cross-sectional view including the axial center B of the rotation of the roller is tilted at an acute angle θ1 with respect to a moving direction C, the thickness of the flat-plate base stock W is reduced by moving the roller 5 in the moving direction C while the surface of the flat-plate base stock W is pressurized by the working plane 11, a thickness-increased part 20 is formed between the working plane 11 and the mandrel 3 and the movement of the roller 5 is completed in a state wherein the top 21a in the moving direction C, of the thickness-increased part 20 is situated on the side of rear end 11b which is positioned behind the top 11a in the moving direction C, of the working plane 11 of the roller 5.
