PURPOSE: To mount not only a blanket having no resin plate and no end fitting but also a blanket having an end fitting in addition to top and bottom and lateral directional regulations similar to those of a plate clamping apparatus of a plate cylinder for a printing unit.

CONSTITUTION: The plate clamping apparatus for a plate cylinder of a varnish coater comprises a top and bottom and lateral direction regulating mechanism in which top and bottom and lateral directions can be regulated similarly to a plate clamping apparatus of a plate cylinder 51 for a printing unit. When a blanket having no resin plate or no end fitting is mounted, gripping and tail sides of the plate or the blanket are inserted between ends of gripping surfaces of upper teeth 53, 54 and 57, 58 and ends of gripping surfaces of lower teeth of a gripping side vice 52 and a tail side vice 56, and held between clamping cams 55 and 59 to be fixed. When a blanket having an end fitting is mounted, the fitting of the blanket is inserted to grooves 53b, 57b formed on the teeth 53, 57 of the vices 52 and 56, and then similarly held between the cams 55 and 59 to be fixed.
