Printing in a target color tone comprises, instead of adjusting the feature color corresponding to a printing plate whenever determined in advance, determining in advance several ways of feature color sets to be used to make the measured color data of the colors to be printed by the ink set into database (1), determining an ink set at first which can obtain the target color tone by printing (2) based on an appropriate standard at first, and making a plate which can print the target color tone using the ink set (3). This dispenses with the ink kneading operation of the feature colors accompanying the printing process and the resultant trial and error.
