To provide a platemaking and printing roll capable of executing a smooth cylindrical grinding by allowing a chatter grinding to be avoided without generating a resonance at the time of roll grinding and easily managing from an inventory management of the roll to a platemaking method/shipment by using an IC tag.
The platemaking and printing roll 1 of a sleeve type having holes to be chucked on both end faces comprises a radio read/write IC tag 3 supported to a bracket and attached to and near a front surface of the holes in the roll and recording at least a roll identification number, and a damper member 4 fixed to an inner surface of the roll to suppress a resonance at the time of grinding an inner surface of the roll. The IC tag records the roll identification number, a color identification number indicating the roll regarding to a printing plate of what color and a printing station number for printing at what number station. The member 4 has a plate-like mass 4b laminated on one surface of a sheet-like material 4a having a high vibration damping factor and other surface of the material 4a fixed to the inner surface of the roll.
