Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PLL synthesizer capable of maintaining or improving both frequency resolution and phase noise performance.SOLUTION: A PLL synthesizer includes: a phase detector for comparing phases of two input signals; a loop filter connected to an output stage of the phase detector; a voltage controlled oscillator for controlling oscillation frequency according to an output signal of the loop filter; a divide-by-two divider for dividing an output signal of the voltage controlled oscillator by two; a down converting mixer for mixing the output signal of the voltage controlled oscillator and the output signal of the divide-by-two divider; and a variable divider for dividing an output signal of the down converting mixer and providing the divided signal as one input signal of the phase detector.
