To provide a plotting device capable of surely fixing sheetlike recording materials of arbitrary sizes to the outer peripheral surface of a drum of a cylindrical shape.
Clamping grooves 11 which extend in a circumferential direction are formed on the outer peripheral surface of the recording drum 1. Plural front end clamps 2 are mounted at the outer peripheral surface of the recording drum 1. Rear end clamps 3 are mounted movably and fixably along the clamping grooves 11 on the outer peripheral surface of the recording drum 1. A recording head 8 is disposed on the front side of the recording drum 1 and a clamp drive assembly is disposed on the rear side. The clamp drive assembly 5 has a first drive assembly 7 which executes the fixation of the front end clamps 2 and the fixation and release of the rear end clamps 3 and a second drive assembly which executes the release of the front end clamps 2. The front end clamps 2 and the rear end clamps 3 surely fix the front end and rear end of a machine plate 100 to the outer peripheral surface of the recording drum 1 by the reaction of springs and the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the recording drum 1.
