To provide a plugged honeycomb structure capable of suppressing an increase in pressure loss and capable of being well enhanced in its durability.
The plugged honeycomb structure includes a honeycomb structure 4 having porous partition walls 1 for forming inflow cells 2a and outflow cells 2b extending from an inflow side edge face to an outflow side edge face 12 so as to demarcate them, an outflow side plugging part 5b and an inflow side plugging part. In the section vertical to the cell extending direction of the honeycomb structure 4 among the outflow cells 2b, and, a reinforcing part is formed to at least one corner part where the partition walls 1 in the section vertical to the extending direction of the cells 2 cross each other in one or more outflow cells 2b contained in an included angle of ±15° centering around at least one diagonal line drawn in the center-of-gravity cell present at a position where the distance from the center O of gravity of the section is shortest.
