Abstract:
PURPOSE: To surely flop out molten steel by surely dropping plugging sand in a sliding nozzle fatted to a molten steel ladle and controlling flow rate of the molten steel at the time of opening the sliding nozzle gate.
CONSTITUTION: The plugging sand 5 for plugging the sliding nozzle 3 for controlling the flow rate of the molten steel is constituted by adding alkali-containing ore powder and grains to MgO or MgO.Al2O3, Al2O3 or these series refractory powder and grains. Then, the grain diameter of these powder and grains is made ≥0.5mm, desirably 0.5-2.5mm and the plugging sand is dropped at the time of opening the sliding nozzle gate 6 to smoothly open the nozzle 4.
