Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a pneumatic booster capable of suppressing an inadvertent and large output during a normal travel and capable of obtaining a large output in an emergency.
CONSTITUTION: An intermediate hole section 30 having the inner diameter smaller than that of a recess 13 and larger than that of a plunger slide hole section 12 is provided between the recess 13 and the plunger slide hole section 12 to be connected to them, and the portion of the intermediate hole section 30 on the plunger slide hole section 12 side is formed into a step face 31 perpendicular to a shaft. When an input shaft 10 presses an output shaft 14 via a plunger 11 and a reaction disk 16, no pressing force and no reaction force is applied to the portion of the reaction disk 16 facing the intermediate hole section 30, and the boosting ratio is reduced by the area of the portion. This booster does not cause such problem of the conventional technique that a very large output is generated immediately after a brake is applied, thus the operability of a brake pedal can be improved.
