To provide a pneumatic radial tire reduced in weight thereof, while maintaining the durability, by devising the structure of a belt layer.
This pneumatic radial tire has two layers of belt layers 3A and 3B formed of a rubber coated material, which is formed by arranging spirally molded steel single wires 4 having a diameter of 0.38-0.45 mm in parallel with each other, in the peripheral side of a carcass layer 2 of a tire crown part 1. A space (t) in the tire radial direction between the steel single wires 4 forming the outside belt layer 3B and the inside belt layer 3A is set at 0.35 mm or more, and a value (wave height (h) - diameter (d)) obtained by subtracting the diameter (d) from the wave height (h) of the steel single wires 4 and the wave length λ are set to satisfy the relation that 0.01≤(h-d)/λ≤0.50. Width of each belt layer is set to satisfy the relation that 1.00 < outside belt layer width BW/real grounding width RCW≤1.15, and 0.91 ≤ outside belt layer width BW/inside belt layer width AW≤0.95.
