To provide a pneumatic shock absorber capable of effectively feeding lubricating oil to the inner periphery of a cylinder and the outer periphery of a cylinder without injecting lubricating oil in great quantities.
The pneumatic shock absorber includes a piston 5 for partitioning a cylinder 3 inside into a rod side chamber 40 and a piston side chamber 50, a damping generating part 8 provided in a passage 7 establishing communication between the rod side chamber 40 and the piston side chamber 50, and a lubricating oil passage 9 having a check valve 10 to permit fluid flowing from the piston side chamber 50 into the rod side chamber 40. In the pneumatic shock absorber, the lubricating oil O is injected into the rod side chamber 40, and working gas is enclosed in the cylinder 3. A float member 21 is slidably inserted into the piston side chamber 50. In the float member 21, when the lubricating oil stored in the piston side chamber 50 exceeds a predetermined amount, an opening part 9a is opened to the piston side chamber 50 of the lubricating oil passage 9. When the lubricating oil is returned to not less than the predetermined amount, the opening part 9a is closed.
