Abstract:
To provide a pneumatic tire intended for providing a heat insulation layer in a side wall part in order to exhibit excellent rolling resistance performance even when a frequency of performing short distance travel is high, and to provide a method of applying a coating material constituting the heat insulation layer.SOLUTION: In a pneumatic tire which has a coating area 40 for forming a heat insulation layer by applying an adiabaticity coating material having flowability as an additional member arbitrarily added later to an external surface of a side wall part 2, the coating area 40 is partitioned by a pair of boundary protrusions 41 protruding from the external surface of the coating area 40 in the tire radial direction outside end and the tire radial direction inside end, and a plurality of guide protrusions 42 projecting from the external surface of the coating area and having the same height are provided in the coating area 40. A coating material is applied onto the pneumatic tire by evenly applying and expanding an adiabaticity coating material on the coating area 40 by sliding a coating jig along the top edge of the guide protrusion 42 in a state of bridging the tabular coating jig over between the plurality of guide protrusions 42.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
