Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a pneumatic tire having high resistance to air permeation by fixing a specific toeguard composition comprising a butyl rubber or a halobutyl rubber and an epoxidized natural rubber to the bead area of the tire.
CONSTITUTION: A rubber tire has a toeguard-constituting part integral with a sulfur cured rubber composition layer formed as the outer layer in the bead area of the tire, said toeguard constituting part comprising a blend of (A) about 20-60 pts.wt. at least one of a butyl rubber and a halobutyl rubber and (B) about 80-40 pts.wt. rubber comprising about 10-100 wt.% epoxidized cis-1,4- polyisoprene rubber and up to 90 wt.% cis-1,4-polyisoprene rubber, said epoxidized rubber having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of about -10°C to -60°C.
