The pneumatic tire T includes: a pair of beads 1; a side wall 2 extending outward in a tire radial direction from the bead 1; a tread 3 coming into contact with a road surface; a buttress 9 provided between the tread 3 and the side wall 2; and a plurality of projections 5 disposed in the buttress 9 along a tire circumferential direction R. Here, the rotational direction of the pneumatic tire T is designated. The projections 5 each include a recess 22 caving-in on a rearward side R2 in the tire rotation direction and extending along a tire radial direction, in a surface of a forward side R1 in a tire rotation direction.
