Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve coexistence of steering stability and weight saving and suppress belt edge separation.SOLUTION: In a pneumatic tire including a belt 7 consisting of at least two sheets of belt ply 7A and 7B having steel cords 10 arranged obliquely, the belt ply has the steel cords 10 one of which has a flat cross section having a major axis D1 and a minor axis D2 and in which the flexural stiffness of a major axis direction B is larger than that of a minor axis direction A and which is arranged so that the major axis direction B is in parallel with the belt surface. The width direction edge part of the belt ply is covered by a rubber sheet 6 (belt cover tape) of thickness (T1) of 0.5 to 1.2 times of belt ply thickness (T2) over a width (W) not less than 10 times of the belt ply thickness (T2), and hardness of the rubber sheet is within 100±5% of the hardness of cord cover rubber of the belt ply.
