Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve lateral grip performance and handling performance of a tire at turning time of a vehicle by making a tread contour shape asymmetric, and determining a tread contour shape on the shoulder drop side of larger one from the largest radius point of a tire by plural radiuses of curvature.
SOLUTION: A tread part 2 has a tread contour shape terminating in inside and outside shoulder areas 5 and 5. In an asymmetric pneumatic tire 1, in a normal condition where it is installed on a normal rim and normal internal pressure is filled, a tread contour shape is made asymmetric to the center line CL of a tire cross section. Curvatures of tread contour shapes on both sides of the largest radius point M are made different from each other. A tread contour shape on the inside from the largest radius point M of a tire has a single radius R1 of curvature, and a tread contour shape on the outside from the largest radius point M is determined by three radiuses R2, R3, and R4 of curvature.
