PURPOSE: To uniformalize grounding performance and improve running stability by forming a belt ply of a belt layer with a plural number of ply pieces spaced by a specific width and adjoining in the axis direction, and making the belt cord of each ply pieces inclined symmetrically to the tire equator.
CONSTITUTION: A pneumatic tire 1 has a carcass 6 which starts from a tread portion 2, passes through a side wall portion 3 and folded back at the circumference of a bead core 5 in the bead portion 4. A belt layer 7 composed of belt plies 7A, 7B of one layer or more is provided in the interior of the tread portion 2 but in the outer side of the carcass 6. In this case, each of belt plies 7A, 7B is formed of a plural number of ply pieces 9 which are spaced apart by a ply width WP of 0.1 to 0.5 times of a maximum tire width WT respectively in the tire axis direction and adjoined in the tire width direction. The belt cord of each ply pieces 9 adjoining to each other is symmetrically inclined respectively against a tire equator C. Thus grounding performance is uniformalized and running stability is improved by restraining a vehicle from running to one side.
