Abstract:
To provide a pod propelling device comprising a propulsion systemhaving less constraint conditions when driving the pod propelling device, and having high layout flexibility.
A pod propelling device (1) includes: a pod body (2) mounted on a hull (10) via a strut (4); and a pod side propeller (3) which is rotatably mounted on the pod body (2). A hydraulic motor (6) of a variable capacity type to rotate the pod side propeller (3) is housed inside the pod body (2). The hydraulic motor (6) is connected to the hydraulic pump (8) of variable capacity type housed inside the hull (10) in an oil communicable manner, and driven with working fluid to be supplied from the hydraulic pump (8).
