To provide an indicator of pointer type for obtaining novelty in the display with a simple constitution.

The indicator of a pointer type indicates a measurement amount to an observer by collaborating with the index 16 of the scale provided on the dial plate 11 and the pointer 12 rotating corresponding to the measurement amount. Wherein, the dial plate 11 is formed with a transparent material, and the indexes 16 are provided on the rear surface 11a of the dial plate 11 capable of being seen by the observer so as to reflect the guided light through the dial plate 11 to the observer, further the light source 18 for emitting light guided in the dial plate 11, and the projection member 17 being projected with the light emitted from the rear surface 11a of the dial plate 11. The light emitted by the light source 18 and guided through the dial plate 11 is reflected by the indexes 16 toward the observer, and is at the same time made incident from the rear surface 11a in which the indexes 16 are not provided on the projection member 17 for projecting the shadows 16s of the indexes 16 on the projection member 17.
