Abstract:

To provide a pointing device capable of displaying a message to be transmitted from a computer so that a user can directly know the state of the computer from the illumination mode of a rotatable device.

This pointing device is electrically connected to a computer, and used for controlling the movement of a cursor on the display device of the computer. The pointing device is provided with a case body, a pointing unit mounted in the case body so that a pointing signal can be generated for controlling the movement of a cursor, a rotatable device for generating a rotational signal, a light source for illuminating the rotatable device, and a control unit for controlling the pointing device. When the computer transmits a state signal to the pointing device, the control unit controls a light source for deciding the illumination mode of the rotatable device according to the state signal.
