This pointing device is provided with an acceleration sensor 2 and a high pass filter 4 for extracting high frequency components from an acceleration signal obtained by the acceleration sensor 2. An oscillating time t of the high frequency components is detected so that the moving amounts of a pointer can be calculated, and the high frequency components are extracted so that a moving time t can be highly precisely detected. Thus, it is possible to accurately move the pointer on a display.
