This polar electromagnetic relay 1 is formed of a polar electromagnet 20 horizontally placed in a housing 11, a contact 31 rocked with the central upper surface of the polar electromagnet 20 as a fulcrum 31a and attracted to one magnetic pole of two magnetic poles of the polar electromagnet 20, and a contact spring 33 mounted on the contact 31, rocked with the contact 31 and making contact with a fixed contact 12 provided on the housing 11 to perform a switching action. An elastic member 25 performing a sound silencing action is interposed between the polar electromagnet 20 and the contact 31.
