Abstract:

To strengthen price competitiveness and to improve reliability and reproducibility by providing a polarization duo-binary optical transmission apparatus of a simple structure.

The polarization duobinary optical transmission apparatus is composed of: a light source 101 which generates continuous light; an optical intensity modulator 103 which converts the continuous light into a optical intensity signal on the basis of an input electric signal; a differential encoder 104 which encodes the input electric signal; a delay device 105 which delays the encoded electric signal by a half bit; and a polarization modulator 107 which utilizes the electric signal delayed by the half bit to polarize and modulate the the optical intensity modulated signal.
