To provide a polarizer capable of forming a polarizing plate whose sticking work with a protective film is facilitated, which does not cause the deterioration in the optical characteristic of the polarizer in a sticking stage and is excellent in optical characteristics, and which is excellent in durability that peeling is not caused even when the temperature and the humidity are high.
The polarizer incorporating at least one kind of element selected from among the group consisting of Zn, Cu, B, Al, Ti, Zr, Sn, V and Cr by 0.5 to 2.0 wt.% is prepared. The polarizing plate is obtained by sticking the protective film at least on one side of the polarizer through an adhesive. A metallic component or the like included in the polarizer is migrated into an adhesive layer, thereby the adhesive strength of the protective film is improved.
