Abstract:

To provide a polarizer protective film containing an acrylic polymer having transparency, heat resistance and high retardation performance as a principal component, to provide a polarizing plate using such the polarizer protective film having high retardation performance, and to provide a high-definition image display device using such the polarizing plate.

The polarizer protective film contains the acrylic polymer as a principal component and has an in-plane retardation value at 589 nm wavelength per 100 m thickness of 130-500 nm and total light transmittance of 85%. The polarizer protective film preferably has a glass transition temperature of 110-200C. The acrylic polymer as the principal component preferably has a lactone ring structure.
