Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the polarizing body which exhibits a sharp polarization characteristic by scattering many conductive planar fine particles in the state of arraying the thickness or longitudinal directions thereof in the same direction as each other. CONSTITUTION:A transparent material formed by scattering the many conductive planar fine particles 12 having the Curie point and m. p. higher than the temp. at which a light transparent medium 11 which allows the transmission of light of a prescribed wavelength exhibits viscosity into this light transparent medium is kept at the prescribed viscosity and a magnetic field of a specified direction is applied thereto to array the many conductive planar fine particles 12 in such a manner that the thickness directions thereof face the specified direction with each other. This material is then solidified by cooling. Of the incident light of the prescribed wavelengths, the polarized light having the electric field coinciding with the direction parallel with the main plane of the conductive planar fine particles 12 is absorbed in the conductive planar fine particles 12 and the polarized light having the electric field coinciding with the thickness direction is substantially not absorbed. The nonpolarized incident light is thus polarized to linearly polarized light.
