Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a phase film composed of a protective film provided with the function of a phase film by using the protective film composed of a thermoplastic norbornene resin.
CONSTITUTION: The protective film 2 is laminated on one face of a polarizing film 1 and the protective film 3 provided with the function of the phase film is laminated on another face of the polarizing film 1. As the polarizing film 1, a polyvinyl alcohol.iodine polarizing film, a dye system polarizing film formed by adsorbing a dichroic dye on a PVA base film and orienting, a polyene based polarizing film and a polarizing film formed by adding the dichroic dye into a modified PVA based film are mentioned. The protective film 2 is composed of a film formed from the thermoplastic norbornene resin by melt casting method or melt molding method. The thermoplastic norbornene resin has a norbornene skeleton, preferably a tetracyclododecene derivative in the repeating unit and is preferably 5,000-1,000,000 in weight average molecular weight so as to attain sufficient strength.
