To provide a polarizing plate incorporating a polarizer protective film, capable of showing the wavelength dispersion property (reverse wavelength dispersion property), namely, the shorter wavelength is, the smaller birefringence is in at least a visible light region, being favorably usable in optical compensation of a liquid crystal panel and a liquid crystal display device of VA mode, and having a novel composition.
The polarizing plate incorporates at least one polarizer protective film. The polarizer protective film (I) has in-plane phase difference Re of 30 to 80 nm and phase difference in the direction of thickness Rth of 90 to 160 nm, (II) shows the wavelength dispersion property, namely, the shorter wavelength is, the smaller birefringence is in at least a visible light region, and (III) contains a resin (A) having a specific molecular structure or heterocyclic aromatic group and is optically biaxial.
