To reduce curvature of a polarizing plate when mutually different protective films are stuck on both surfaces of a polarizing film.
The polarizing plate 11 is manufactured by sticking the 1st and 2nd mutually different protective films 13 and 13 on both surfaces of the polarizing film 12. Here, the 1st and 2nd protective films 13 and 14 in use satisfy 0.65×2<X1<1.55X2, where X1 and X2 are the coefficients of water absorption expansion of the 1st and 2nd protection films 13 and 14 in the direction of water absorption of the polarizing plate 11. The absolute value of the difference between thicknesses Y1 and Y2 of both the protective films 13 and 14 is >2μm and <100μm. Further, the 1st or 2nd protection film 13 or 14 is formed of cellulose triacetate and the polarizing film 12 is formed of a polyvinylalcohol-based polymer. Consequently, the polarizing plate is obtained which is reduced in curvature after sticking.
