Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polarizing plate excellent in wet heat resistance and having high durability and a high degree of polarization by laminating an amorphous SiO2 layer on a protective film of cellulose triacetate, etc.
SOLUTION: A protective film is formed on one side or both sides of a polarizing film and an amorphous SiO2 layer is formed on the outside of the protective film. The polarizing film is preferably a uniaxially stretched film of PVA and the average degree of polymn. of the PVA is 1,500-10,000, preferably 2,500-7,000, especially preferably 3,500-7,000. The protective film is stuck without any special limit and an aq. soln. of a hydrophilic polymer such as PVA or CMC is used. The amorphous SiO2 layer is not especially limited and arbitrary amorphous SiO2 may be used but amorphous SiO2 obtd. by heating and moistening an Si-contg. polymer such as copolymerized organohydrosiloxazane.
