PURPOSE: To aim at enhaning the efficiency of a polishing process, by fitting a casing body rotatably supporting a turn table which resiliently supports polishing grindstones for an annular packing grove and an annular metal touch convex section, onto a pipe bed flange.
CONSTITUTION: At first, a deteriorated packing is removed from an annular grove P in a pipe bed flange F. Then the casing body of a polishing device S is fitted onto the flange F and is secured by a clamp device C. Next, a polishing drive motor M is driven to horizontally rotate a turn table 7 resiliently supporting two kinds of polishing grindstones A, B, and therefore, the annular packing groove P is polished by one A of the grindstone whose surface pressure is adjusted by a support shaft 13 while a metal touch surface of an annular convex section T is polished by the other B of the grindstones. Thus, it is possible to efficiently and rapidly polish the annular packing groove and the metal touch surface of the annular convex section of the pipe bed flange surface while the pipe bed flange is held on a pipe.
