PURPOSE: To provide a polishing device enabling the easy adjustment of a moving range and excellent in workability and safety.

CONSTITUTION: A cutter 10 is fixed to a moving table 2 on a frame 4, and this cutter 10 is polished by a rough grinding wheel 11K and a finish-grinding wheel 12K. In the case of polishing, the moving table 2 repeats its reciprocating motion in the directions of arrow marks 92, 93 within a specified moving range. The width control of this moving range is performed on the basis of a position where a detecting bar 20 comes in contact with a detecting switch 8. The timer value X is subtracted from the time of detecting this position, and when this timer value X becomes '0,' the moving table 2 is moved in the reverse direction. Since this timer value X is changed by an adjusting dial 35 on a control panel 4H, the moving range can be easily adjusted only by rotatory-operating the adjusting dial 35.
