To provide a polishing tool and polishing method capable of efficiently polishing, for example, those areas which form a pin-shape like casting pin of casting metal mold and where a space sufficient for polishing cannot be secured around it.

A polishing tool 1 provided with a compression coiled spring 3 to the inside of which boron nitride 5 is electrodeposited is installed to a drive device such as a grinder and, while the grinder tool 1 is rotated in the direction reverse to the winding direction of the spring 3, the boron nitride- adhered surface of the internal surface of the spring is pressed against the outer peripheral part of a pin-like object to be polished. Also the compression spring 3 of the polishing tool 1 can reach the base of the casting pin easily if a several mm of clearance is provided around the casting pin of a metal mold, and polishing debris is exhausted from the clearance of the coil. The polishing condition can be observed through the clearance and it is deformed elastically and properly according to the shape of the pin and, therefore, only the alloy adhered to the surface of the pin can be removed easily under good workability. Thus the surface treatment of the casting pin like titanium coating 13 not damaged.
