To provide a polycarbonate diol useful as a raw material of polyurethane and a thermoplastic elastomer or the like, and excellent in thermal stability and hydrolysis resistance.
The novel poly (branched-chain alkylene) carbonate diol uses a branched-chain alkylene diol in which at least one hydroxyl group (OH group) bonds to a secondary or tertiary carbon atom, and a specific carbonate as raw materials; a poly (branched-chain alkylene) carbonate diol copolymer uses at least two kinds of different branched-chain alkylene diols, and a specific carbonate as raw materials; and methods of manufacturing the same are disclosed. The obtained novel poly (branched-chain alkylene) carbonate diol and poly (branched-chain alkylene) carbonate diol copolymer can be used industrially and widely for instance as a coating, a coating agent or the like for the appearance in an automotive field and an OA equipment field.
