PURPOSE: To easily reduce the thickness of a battery by reducing the number of parts such as a lead, etc., by forming electrodes on both side ends of a layer- built cell by fixing polyacetylene on one surface of a sheet-shaped conductor.
CONSTITUTION: Expand metal 4 is spot-welded to two sheet-shaped conductors 8 for a case, and a gel-like polymer is forcedly applied thereon. For the layered interior of a cell, an electrode 6 formed by fixing the gel-like polymer to the expand metal 4 is interposed on the lower layer side via a separator 5. In addition, a sheet-shaped conductor 3 is interposed at the central portion, and further an electrode 6 formed by fixing polyacetylene on the expand metal 4 and the separator 5 are interposed. In this polyacetylene battery, a sheet-shaped conductor 8 serves as a lead. Further, the thickness of the battery can be reduced because no polyacetylene is fixed on the inside surface side of the sheet-shaped conductor 8. Moreover, the increase of internal resistance of the battery can be eliminated since gel-like polyacetylene is fixed in each gap between layers.
