Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject casing useful as a sausage casing to be heated in water with scarce fear of cleavage in the lengthwise direction by arranging polyamide layers on the inside and outside surfaces of a tubular casing and an interposed steam- and oxygen-barrier layers. SOLUTION: This sausage casing, a biaxially oriented tubular seamless casing, comprises aromatic polyamide-based layers arranged on the inside and outside surfaces of the tubular casing and an interposed steam-barrier layer of polyolefin and oxygen-barrier layer of ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer. These layers are formed by at least four-layer coextrusion. The ratio of the lateral tear resistance to the longitudinal tear resistance for this tubular casing product is approximately 0.65-0.85, and the surface stretch ratio of the casing film is approximately 8-11.
