Abstract:
Provided are: a polyamide-imide resin for an optical member that has both high flexibility and bending resistance, and, in particular, a polyamide-imide resin for a front surface plate for an image display device; and an optical member, such as a front surface plate, that includes the polyamide-imide resin. A polyamide-imide resin that has structural units represented by formula (1) and formula (2) (in which X and Z each independently represent a bivalent organic group, and Y represents a tetravalent organic group, at least some Z being represented by formula (3) [in which R1-R8 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a C1-6 alkyl group, or a C6-12 aryl group, each of the hydrogen atoms among R1-R8 being independently substitutable by a halogen atom, A represents -O-, -S-, -CO-, or -NR9-, R9 representing a C1-12 hydrocarbon group that may be substituted with a halogen atom, m represents an integer from 1 to 4, and * represents a bond]).
