Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer which has high toughness due to its possession of a flexing structure in the main chain, and is difficult to reduce the above toughness and hot water resistance due to the inhibition of excess sulfonation even when sulfonated, a sulfo group-containing copolymer to be obtained by sulfonating the polymer, and a proton conductive film which is composed of the sulfo group-containing copolymer, excels in toughness and is well balanced with respect to excellent various properties such as durability, resistance to oxidation, heat resistance, and proton conductivity.
SOLUTION: The polyarylene based polymer comprises (A) a structural unit to be represented by formula (a), (B) a structural unit to be represented by formula (b), and (C) a structural unit to be represented by formula (c). The sulfonated polymer is obtained by sulfonating the polyarylene based copolymer. The ion conductive film is composed of the sulfonated polymer.
