Title:
POLY(ARYLENE ETHER KETONE) FILM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2989158
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a poly(arylene ether ketone) film improved in heat resistance, chemical resistance and mechanical properties by melt-molding a specified poly(arylene ether ketone) and subjecting the obtained molding to crystallization by biaxial orientation.
SOLUTION: A poly(arylene ether ketone) comprising at least 50mol% repeating units represented by the formula (wherein Ar1 is a 1,5-, 2,6- or 2,7-naphthalene ring; and Ar2 is p-phenylene or p,p-biphenylene, 1,5-, 2,6- or 2,7-naphthalene ring) and having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.3 or above (as determined in concentrated sulfuric acid at 30°C) is melt-molded to obtain an oriented film. The unoriented film is oriented and crystallized by biaxial orientation at a temperature ranging from (Tg-100°C) to (Tm-20°C) (wherein Tg is the glass transition temperature of the polymer, and Tm is the melting point of the polymer) to obtain a poly(arylene ether ketone) film having a Young's modulus of elasticity of 400kg/mm2 and a peak temperature of tanδ of 160°C or above (as determined at 40°C).
