To provide a polymer molecular structure of a poly(arylene ketone) for imparting amorphous property while maintaining heat resistance and improving acid resistance, oxidation resistance and chemical resistance, a method for producing the same and a monomer suitable for the same.
This method for producing the high polymeric material is provided by setting a biphenylene molecule derivative in which an aromatic part-containing atomic group, inactive to an electrophilic aromatic group-substituting reaction, bonds through an ether bond to o- and o'-positions of the biphenylene unit, and a carbon at p-position having the ether bond is susceptible to the electrophilic attack, as one of the monomers, and a dicarboxylic acid or its derivative as another monomer, and extending the polymer chain by the reaction of generating a ketone-bond with a biphenylene aromatic ring of the biphenylene derivative through the generation of an acyl cation of the dicarboxylic monomer or its equivalent substance. The poly(arylene ketone) skeleton does not have any ether bond in its main chain. The conjugated system of the main chain does not form a co-plane but has twist, and has a chemically stable aromatic part-containing side chain.
