Abstract:
To solve such problems that in sulfonated polybenzazole of the prior art, while an attempt is made to increase sulfonation to maximize ion conductivity, at the same time presence of protogenic group causes unacceptable degree of swelling or even complete dissolution in water or in methanol and unsatisfactory mechanical properties of the membrane.
The problems are solved by a polybenzazole block copolymer of sulfonated benzimidazole and non sulfonated benzoxazole or benzothiazole.
