Title:
POLYBENZAZOLE POLYMER CONTAINING PERFLUOROCYCLOBUTANE RING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3033273
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a polybenzazole polymer that is composed of a specified repeating unit having perfluorocyclobutane rings, has high thermal stability, solvent resistance, and flexibility, and is useful as a raw material of fibers for structural materials and electric substrates.
CONSTITUTION: The polymer is composed of a repeating unit of the formula wherein Ar1 is an aromatic group; DM is a divalent organic part stable and inactive in an acid under polymerization conditions; Z represents O, S, etc., and numbers of divalent organic parts DM in the unit have perfluorocyclobutane rings in its main chain. The polymer is obtained, for example, by reacting 1,2-bis(oxy-4-benzoic acid)perfluorocyclobutane with 4,6-diaminoresorcinol dihydrochloride in the presence of an acid solvent such as polyphosphoric acid. The perfluorocyclobutane ring-containing monomer is obtained, for example, by reacting methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate with 1"-dibromotetrafluoroethane and zinc in sequence and heating the product.
