Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently mold a blow molded article of polybutylene terephthalate and such a molded article that has a size which can not be molded by conventional methods by a cut-off molding method without reinforcing the blow molded article of polybutylene terephthalate with glass fibers, etc. SOLUTION: A polybutylene terephthalate blow molded article with the height and the max. diameter of the blow molded article of respectively at least 130 mm and at least 40 mm is obtd. by a method wherein a polybutylene terephthalate resin with an intrinsic viscosity of at least 1.4 di/g is melted and a molten parison is extrusion-molded at an extrusion speed of at least 15 mm/ sec and with a time from start of extrusion to a time where a mold is closed and the molten parison is held at most 14 sec and a thickness of at least 6 mm and a molten parison obtd. is blow-molded by means of a cut-off molding method.
